About
Hi, I'm Brian. I've spent most of my life breaking things.... electronics, computers, cars, ideas. If it exists, I've probably tried to figure out how it works, break it, and put it back together.
Breaking things is genuinely one of my favorite pastimes — it's how I learn best. I really enjoyed Adam Savage's book, Every Tool's a Hammer, and found his insights on making to be fascinating. In particular, one of his mantras deeply resonates with how I approach everything: "Follow the process, not the plan." I've always been drawn to thinking creatively about problems, whether that means reaching for a physical tool, spinning up a 3D print, or building a custom solution from scratch. I'm also passionate about collaborating with the broader community and always looking for open-source projects to contribute to.
Over the years, teams I've worked with developed a running joke: when something went sideways, the default assumption was "Brian broke it." And honestly? That's fair. I break things on purpose to find the edges, harden the systems, and understand what's actually holding everything together.
Brian Broke It is not an admission of guilt.
This site is where I write about the things I'm tinkering with, the gear I'm testing, the books I'm reading, and the ideas I'm working through. If it involves making, breaking, or learning something, it probably belongs here.
I'm always up for a conversation. Find me on the socials below. All opinions here are my own.
